Exploration Core Sampling Planning

Define the sampling objective, core size, target depth and site constraints before discussing an exploration core drilling configuration.

Specify What The Sample Must Provide

State whether the investigation needs continuous core, particular core dimensions or another documented sample requirement. Where a sampling standard or programme exists, provide it. Do not select equipment solely because a catalogue uses the word exploration.

Keep Capacity Linked To The Drilling System

Read model data with its stated rod or hole-size basis. Separate target depth, hole diameter and required core size. Different drilling systems can have different capacity and tooling requirements; a single depth number is not a substitute for a complete review.

Plan The Working Area And Supporting Equipment

Describe access, transport restrictions, intended hole orientation and available utilities. Identify circulation and handling needs. Where rod or barrel equipment is already owned, supply its identification and dimensions so the connection scope can be checked.

Prepare The Technical Discussion

Send the sampling objective, required core size, target depth, formations, inclination and site information. Request the proposed tooling and accessory list together with the rig configuration. Specify which equipment and documentation are required and which items remain outside the quotation.

The Task

Organize an enquiry for obtaining core samples for a defined investigation. Clarify the required sample form and proposed drilling programme before comparing exploration rig models.

Site And Operating Conditions

Describe the expected formations, target depth, planned hole inclination, available working area, access and the sampling specification supplied by the investigation team.

Equipment Roles

Exploration core rig and the drilling system required by the programme. Rods, core barrel, bits, circulation equipment and handling accessories require their own specification and interface review.

Planning Boundaries

A model designation does not establish drilling capacity for every core size or inclination. Sample recovery and condition depend on the formation, tooling, method and operation; no recovery percentage is promised here.
