Water measurement

What To Include In A Water Level Meter Enquiry.

Describe the measurement task before comparing instruments.

Start with the measurement requirement, then request the specification sheet for the offered instrument. Confirm range, accuracy, cable length and model identification rather than estimating them from a photograph.

Explain The Measurement Task.

State where the instrument will be used and the information required. Include a project specification or an existing instrument reference where available.

List Requirements That Need Checking.

Record required cable length, measurement range, accuracy and documentation requirements. If they are not established, mark them as open questions.

Include Operating And Handling Conditions.

Provide relevant site and access information, intended handling method and known constraints. Product photographs do not establish a complete specification.

Ask For Model-Specific Documentation.

Request the offered model identification and the applicable operating and specification documents before selecting an instrument.

Enquiry Checklist

  • Measurement purpose and location
  • Required cable length and range
  • Project specification or existing model
  • Operating conditions and document needs

Technical Review Boundary: No range, accuracy, cable length, probe dimension, power or current SKU is asserted without an approved specification sheet.

Record What The Reading Refers To

Identify the well and the reference point used for the measurement. State whether the well is at rest or pumping, and record the time and context of the reading. Comparing measurements without this context can obscure whether they describe the same condition. This is a documentation checklist, not a hydrogeological interpretation.

Check Access Before Requesting A Reel

Describe the opening and any access restrictions, together with the anticipated measurement requirement. Request the actual probe dimensions and cable configuration for the supplied version. A reel photograph does not establish cable length, graduation or accuracy.

Distinguish Measurement From Investigation

A water-level meter enquiry concerns a measurement in an accessible well or observation point. A groundwater investigation before drilling is a separate task with different information requirements. Neither a level reading nor a product model code proves groundwater quality or sustainable yield. Ask for the instrument instructions and documented limitations.
